This past October I met with the Layden family in Portland, Oregon for a family session. They were visiting the Pacific Northwest for the very first time and wanted a photo session to remember their time here. I had been chatting with Ashley about her session for months, and I was so excited to finally meet her and her husband, Aaron, and their little girl, Eden, in person! We decided to do their session at the amazing Cathedral Park in downtown Portland, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect spot. We had been brainstorming for weeks about the perfect PNW location for their photos--the Laydens are very outdoorsy and really wanted something that was in town but still showcased the beautiful Pacific Northwest trees and landscape. I hadn't had a chance to visit Cathedral Park before this session, but I'd seen some amazing photos taken under the Saint John's Bridge (which is the focal point of this cool little park) and I knew this family and this park were meant to be. :)
The morning of their session began with a huge thunderstorm... naturally. But by the time we met later that day, the rain had stopped and the sun was attempting to peek out from behind the clouds. The mood was very PNW--the sky was cloudy, the ground was damp, the trees were in peak color changing mode, and there was a trace of fog in the hills. Everything was beautiful and so perfect. Ashley is a fellow photographer in Oklahoma (you can visit her website here), so I knew that everyone would be dressed super cute and would be total naturals in front of the camera (and they were, of course!).
This family is so adorable and so much fun! Eden is such a doll and her cute little smile is too contagious. And I just have to say that her parents are total couples goals. :)
